Neuro Alliance is introducing a comprehensive ‘AAC Lab’ package designed to provide participants with personalised communication solutions through advanced Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) technologies. At Neuro Alliance, we place a strong emphasis on helping our participants communicate in the best way possible. For some, this involves using alternative methods such as communication devices and other technologies. Our AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) Lab Package is designed to provide tailored communication solutions using advanced AAC technologies, helping individuals unlock their communication potential and feel empowered to interact and engage with others.
What it is
The AAC Lab Package offers a comprehensive approach to Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It’s a personalised service for individuals at any stage of their AAC journey, including those who are new to AAC, those seeking further assessment to identify suitable communication options, or those wishing to review or enhance their current systems. Our team works with participants of all ages and offers consultancy to Speech Pathologists in the community who may have participants with complex communication needs.

What is included in the AAC Lab Package
1. Initial Assessment (2-hour 1:1 session)
- Discussion of current communication goals
- Review of the participant’s AAC history and the purpose of the referral
- Exploration of suitable AAC options for trial
- Completion of the SETT framework to assess device suitability
2. Equipment Trial (2-hour session)
Trial of different AAC devices and technologies, including:
- Eye gaze technology
- Various applications on devices
- Switches
- PODD (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display)
- Other AAC technologies based on participant needs
3. Follow-Up and Reporting
- 1 hour of non-face-to-face supplier follow-up
- Up to 2 hours of report writing (depending on case complexity)
Additional mentoring or external supervision can be arranged through equipment providers such as Liberator, LinkAT, or Zyteq.
